Standing, Nescio changes its bearing. Fixed to the wall like its suspended versions, it nonetheless touches the floor and takes its place with greater verticality. The “I do not know” of its name becomes here a way of staying simple and direct: a precise, upright console that chooses its place without emphasis. A piece that accepts its function without giving up the sobriety of the Nescio family.

Nescio is the very first piece of furniture of the Fabers method: the first sketch Huub showed us, in a Paris café. We had already decided to work together; Nescio only confirmed the choice. In the atelier it played the same founding role, that of the first physical meeting between the artisans, and, for each of them, with the designer.
One example tells the whole story of that early alchemy. The first prototype followed the drawings exactly, and yet something in the proportions was off. Huub narrowed his eyes, then named the culprit: one millimetre. Nobody would have believed a gap that small could really be seen. The artisan on hand, smiling, took the top back to adjust it there and then: in front of Huub, his own drawing was being corrected in real time, that dialogue between line and material every designer dreams of. A few minutes later it was obvious, that millimetre changed everything. Huub's verdict: “There. Now it sings.”
