From the very beginning, B.fabers set out to unite the authenticity of the workshop with a strong design signature. We understand our role as editor in the older sense of the word: bringing designers and independent artisans together around a shared method, a shared material and a shared philosophy.

We create exclusive pairings in which design feeds directly on the hand at work: our designers draw on the craftsmanship of the cabinetmakers and joiners in the community to imagine furniture that is sturdy, repairable and true to local solid wood. Traditional joinery, without a single screw, is essential to this: it gives each piece its structure, its honesty and its ability to last.

Within this artisanal setting, designers give free rein to their creativity and their intuition. Through furniture built to pass down the generations, each of them offers us a personal reading of “timeless elegance.”

Our model rests on one simple conviction. No B.fabers object exists without three people meeting around the same inspiration:

the designer, the craftsman-maker and the person it is made for. Take any one of the three away, and the object does not exist.

To set out to make objects that get handed down is to set the bar very high. It calls for a design able to outlast its moment, for a material that is robust and repairable. But that is not enough. For an object to survive the years, a person has to decide that it will. It takes emotion, a particular bond between the object and the one who lives with it.

At B.fabers, that bond grows out of traceable material, out of knowing where the tree came from, and out of the talents that gave it form. Bringing all of that together takes a collective, skills that answer one another, and the good fortune of the right encounters. This is how the Fabers method came about.

A solid wood piece shaped by an artisan is always one of a kind. Its grain, its knots and its natural tones give it a character entirely its own. By entrusting a single design to several independent artisans, we take that pursuit of singularity further:

Our pieces are produced as a succession of limited series, numbered, and signed by both hands by the designers and by the craftsman-maker: each artisan has a signature series that embodies his imprint and his craftsmanship.

An exacting specification guarantees consistent quality, while the technique, the tools and the evident pleasure of each artisan give every finished piece a soul of its own.

Working with independent, exacting talents means accepting that the piece sometimes goes on living in their hands. Though it forms no part of the brief, some of them propose adjustments or variations that extend the original gesture, driven by their passion and their eye.

Every piece of furniture is made to order: no needless stock, your order is what sets the artisan's work in motion.

We work exclusively in solid wood, a natural and lasting material, from fine local woods that are responsibly managed. A certificate of authenticity comes with every piece, guaranteeing the French origin of the timber.

At B.fabers we do not offer standardized products but pieces shaped by artisans, carrying the sensibility that makes our approach what it is. Quality, however, remains fully in hand: an exacting specification, rigorous design and artisans chosen for their eye for detail ensure remarkable consistency. Only a trained eye will catch the nuances that come from each artisan's hand and tools: fine variations, barely visible, that belong to the signature of a single hand.

Wood is a living material: it will go on moving in your home. Naturally sensitive to changes in temperature, humidity and season, it expands, contracts and shifts a little. The craft engineering we apply keeps that movement to a minimum: our joinery builds in zones of freedom that let the wood follow these changes rather than fight them. Your piece will live, then, and part of that life cannot be entirely controlled. Should those changes ever cause real trouble, our 10-year warranty naturally takes over.

Even when carefully selected, wood remains singular: its grain, its figure, its knots, its natural tones and its warmth make every piece inherently one of a kind. Your piece may therefore differ slightly from the images on the site; that is authenticity showing itself.

Because every piece is made to order, it can be neither returned nor exchanged. We do allow a window of 48 hours after the order in which you are free to change your mind.
