Bench, 2 or 3 seats
Madame Taconeo
Two clusters of legs evoke stamping feet, energy, and an intense rhythm and sound. Inspired by the dancer La Singla, this piece pays tribute to her art and to the great masters of the “taconeo”, the art of heel-beats in flamenco: a poetic paradox in solid wood. The bench, an object static by definition, takes on another symbolic meaning here; it is a seat impatient to move, in search of feeling, and to celebrate life by stamping its feet.

Huub told us where it came from before the first line was drawn. A black-and-white film barely a minute long: a flamenco dancer of great presence, known as La Singla, shows with incredible intensity and extraordinary fire the whole art of heel-beats. He remains deeply moved by it. The piece asserted itself.
The first prototype was already a success, but once again it took hands-on trials in the atelier, several settings for the thickness of the legs, down to the single half-millimetre that finally made the whole thing right.
Flamenco called for a touch of fire. In love with solid wood as we were, we had barely explored tinted oils until then. It took a long time to find a very vivid red that betrayed neither the nature of the oil nor the transparency of the wood beneath the tint. That red brought colour into B.fabers.
